چکیده

Based on the space alternating generalized expectation maximization (SAGE) technique, and the ordered serial interference cancellation (OSIC) algorithm, an improved low-complexity inter-carrier interference (ICI) mitigation scheme, named SAGE-OSIC, is proposed for high mobile orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, where the subcarriers are updated in series, according to the order of the decreasing signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) or signal to noise ratio (SNR). The computational complexity is investigated, and simulation studies are concluded over multipath fading and rapidly time-varying channels. It is indicated that the proposed SAGE-OSIC scheme significantly outperforms the existing low-complexity ICI mitigation methods based on SAGE, without any increase in the computational complexity, especially for the large Doppler shifts in highly mobile environments. Furthermore, it can also be concluded that the performance of the proposed SAGE-OSIC approaches that of the vertical Bell laboratory layered space-time (VBLAST) scheme, which demands very high computation.

Evaluation Performance of OFDM Mutlicarrier Modulation over Rayleigh and RicianStandard Channels Using WPT-OFDM Modulations

Last years, Wavelet Packet Modulation (WPM) or Wavelet Packet Transform based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (WPT-OFDM) have been introduced to wired and wireless communication fields as efficient Multicarrier Modulation (MCM) techniques. The wavelets have interesting features such as flexibility, compatibility and localization in both time and frequency domains with no need to use ...

A Novel Intercarrier Interference Cancellation for MIMO-OFDM Systems

The main impairment of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is an intercarrier interference (ICI) effect caused by a frequency offset. A zero-padded technique designed for a conjugate cancellation scheme in MIMO-OFDM systems for ICI cancellation is proposed by padding zero between two consecutive symbols over a space-frequency domain. At the receiver, the ICI cancellatio...

Using WPT as a New Method Instead of FFT for ‌Improving the Performance of OFDM Modulation

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used in order to provide immunity against very hostile multipath channels in many modern communication systems.. The OFDM technique divides the total available frequency bandwidth into several narrow bands. In conventional OFDM, FFT algorithm is used to provide orthogonal subcarriers. Intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interferen...

Location-aware ICI Reduction in MIMO-OFDM Downlinks for High-speed Railway Communication Systems

High mobility may destroy the orthogonality of subcarriers in OFDM systems, resulting in intercarrier interference (ICI), which may greatly reduce the service quantity of high-speed railway (HSR) wireless communications. This paper focuses on ICI mitigation in the HSR downlinks with distributed transmit antennas. For such a system, its key feature is that the ICIs are caused by multiple carrier...

BICM-OFDM Systems over Time-Varying Channels: ICI Cancellation and Diversity Order Analysis

In high mobility scenarios, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems experience temporal channel variations within one symbol time to a degree resulting in that the orthogonality among subcarriers is destroyed by inter-carrier interference (ICI) and significant performance degradation may follow, if ICI is left untreated. This dissertation is concerned with the challenging prob...
